About this project
This project explores how documentation, learning and training can be integrated into OpenBridge interfaces, rather than sitting beside them as a separate manual, course or simulator session. By doing so we hope that we can make training more accessible and workplaces safer!
Why it matters
OpenBridge is built for complex industrial systems. From maritime bridges to the food industry, highly critical environments gain from a design system that makes the interfaces consistent and safe. One way of ensuring this safety, that OpenBridge is yet to explore, lies in how it is taught.
Today, we see that the teaching of complex systems is usually completely detached from the environment where they live. It is often communicated through paper manuals, classroom learning or online certifications. That, quite physical, gap is the foundation for this project.
Status
The project is ongoing, and this website documents it:
- Process: Dated entries as the work happens. Insights, ideas, decisions and the reasoning behind them.
- Research: An annotated library of papers, references and visual inspiration, each with key findings and a note on why it is relevant to the project
- Prototypes: working prototypes of training inside interfaces, built with the OpenBridge components so they can be tried out directly in the browser.
Updates are published continuously, and may be contradicted by later ones. That way the whole process, also dead ends, is documented.
